LEAP INTO THE VOID
or Homage to the School of Sensitivity
by
McBett

Conclusion of a research developed in Dublin in the last years.
It will concern the dematerialization of artworks created by me during this phase (exhibition WAY OUT), using elements “found” in this specific context and in the form of a trial.
The action is performed by external operators and it is accompanied by a verbal “discussion” amplyfied by a “chorus” of live electronic music.
It will not be executed directly by me, who will be present as facilitator and cleaner only.
A limited audience will be admitted, intended to witness and to participate in the video-recording.
Tickets are numbered and intended as personal pass to the event and they are for sale already (mcbett@xxx.ie or 08xxxxxx).
An instruction leaflet is provided beside the presentation and it need to be read and agreed before the event.

LEAP INTO THE VOID   falling through
poem by McBett

I wanted to say
and I will not speak.
I have no words to say.
Will I heed?
I allow others to tell.
Do I let others verbalise this act
With words I should say?
I am carving words.
I cannot utter.
As raw matter
I can break words into pieces
to better approach
another quintessence.
Decomposing
within my memories
to heed myself
through a specific
inner universe.
Each object to die,
to move
into its next stage.
A looped chess match.
Endless.
Always falling.
I can't speak though:
I will hear.

PLASTIC / WAR
VOICE 1
complete rubbish...    become a dustman!...
you ruined my day! this exhibition is a desecration of a holy place. It strikes me as a travesty and dishonor to the suffering and bloodshed that good men and women went through here.  shame, shame for the execrable plastic objects hung up on the rampants of the jail, but ever more, shame for taking these cells and turning them into galleries of  inanity.
I was shocked by the plastic limbs, which seem a caricature of the dismemberment suffering of Irish prisoners here over the centuries. Seems you could find somewhere else for this exhibition.
No atmosphere      prefer more silence time to meditate    executing sites kept quiet and sacred
UP THE HAMMERS

METAL / TIME
VOICE 2

Play the game. Compromise your work without hesitation. Don’t be the protagonist. Look for comparisons. But act with no second aims. Avoid the hidden thoughts. Don’t leave anything to pass by in silence. Be yielding and strong. Be cunning, allow yourself to be involved and disregard the victory. Let yourself be shaken. Show your eyes, glance at the intimate side of the other one, prepare the setting and consider each one in his own context. Make only enthusiastic decisions. Fall through without loosing your composure. Above all take your time and get lost on the way. Let yourself be distracted. Take a break, as they say. Listen carefully to each tree and each stream. Go in to restore yourself wherever you wish and enjoy the sun. Forget the relatives, approach strangers, reach the worthless things, do not pay heed to those who blindly trust in fate, don't consider misfortune, win the argument with some laughter. Move in the colours that are your own, until you are on the side of the righteous and the rustling of the leaves softens. Let’s go and pass across the villages. I am following you.   Play the game. Compromise your work without hesitation. Don’t be the protagonist. Look for comparisons. But act with no second aims. Avoid the hidden thoughts. Don’t leave anything to pass by in silence. The influence of this School of Sensitivity and Dematerialization upon the environment is intended to reawaken the capacities of personal responsibility, and to make the attainment of higher, spiritual, and immaterial qualities, rather than ever greater quantities, the goal of human activity. To find life, at the promptings of heart and mind; to imperceptibly imbue and transform human beings and their environment with, and by means of, imagination.  The purpose is to make existence in God’s world unproblematic; its goal is liberty. The direct and indirect influence of this center of sensitivity will be exerted by teachers who live in the midst of the student body.  The habitat is a school built of immaterial architecture, pervaded by light and suffused with sensitivity.  The influence upon the environment is intended to reawaken the capacities of personal responsibility, and to make the attainment of higher, spiritual, and immaterial qualities, rather than ever greater quantities, the goal of human activity.  VOICE 1-2-3

musique de l'indifferénce
coeurs temps air feu sable
du silence émboulement d'amours
couvre leurs voix et que
je ne m'entende plus
me taire

music of indifference
heart time air fire sand
of silence avalanche of loves
smother their voices and may
I no longer heed
myself hush

musica dell'indifferenza
cuore tempo aria fuoco sabbia
del silenzio implosione di amori
annulla le voci di costoro e che
io mai più mi scopra
ammutolito in me stesso

Informazione a cura dell'Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Dublino:

HAPPENING CONCLUSIVO :
LEAP IN THE VOID – Kilmainham Gaol
Sabato 14 ottobre 2006, ore 19,00.

ATTENZIONE: L’EVENTO VIENE REGISTRATO IN VIDEO.

- 50 posti a sedere, posti in piedi
